Support & Docs
Everything you need to run your fleet in Crimson. Still stuck? Email [email protected] — we aim to reply within one business day.
Getting started
Crimson tracks one row per hardware model, not per unit. Add the model once, set the quantity you own, and Crimson multiplies cost and risk for you.
- Model — the product name, e.g. "Latitude 5440".
- End of support date — when the manufacturer stops security patches and support. Find it on the vendor's lifecycle page (Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Apple all publish these).
- Replacement cost — what one replacement unit would cost you today.
Understanding statuses
- Healthy — more than 1 year of support remaining.
- Approaching — within 1 year. Start budgeting.
- Critical — within 90 days. Plan the replacement now.
- Past EOL — support has ended; the device is unpatched. Act now.
- Retired — you've marked it out of service; it's excluded from stats and the calendar but kept for your records.
The dashboard numbers
- Devices tracked — total active units across all models.
- Need attention — units that are Critical or Past EOL.
- Replacement cost at risk — quantity × unit cost for everything needing attention. This is the number to bring to budget meetings.
Your data and backups
Your fleet lives in your browser's local storage — it never reaches our servers, and we can't recover it for you. That means:
- Use Export CSV regularly to keep a portable backup.
- Data doesn't sync between browsers or computers; export from one and re-enter (or keep the CSV) for another.
- Clearing your browser's site data deletes your fleet permanently.
Pricing & billing
Crimson costs $1 per device per year — a 50-device fleet is $50/year. The dashboard is free to try with no account. To purchase, email [email protected] and we'll get you set up.
Troubleshooting
- My fleet disappeared — you may be in a private/incognito window, a different browser, or your browser data was cleared. Re-import from your last CSV export.
- The CSV opens oddly in Excel — use File → Import and choose comma-delimited, or open it in Google Sheets.
- A date shows the wrong status — statuses are computed against today's date in your local timezone; check the end-of-support date on the row.
